One of Slovakia’s biggest blocks of flats is currently being erected in Sillein. This building with an overall height of 75 metres is equipped with 198 luxury apartments.

Throughout the entire construction phase a total of approx. 1.850 cantilever connectors FRANK Egcobox, column formers FRANK Tubbox and transverse force dowel systems FRANK Egcodorn will be installed.

The Egcobox elements were designed together with planners and adapted to the specific requirements of the construction site.

Among others, the following elements have been designed:

Insulating material with a width of 120 mm to ensure continuous connection of 16 metre-high wall panels
Tension bar lengths specifically adapted to the required forces
Horizontally positioned intersecting transverse force bars, for counterbalancing wind pressures in heights of up to max. 75 metres
Rebar diameters of up to 20 mm and lengths of up to 3.5 metres, to match connecting lengths of only 65 cm for extremely high point loads.
Elements including articulated thrust bearings

All elements were supplied in mineral wool, in order to meet the requirements of fire protection standard F90.

The previously described cantilever connectors type Egcobox are special constructions to meet the balcony requirements (thermal connection of wall panels protruding by 16 metres, interrupted by daylight openings), the specific static requirements and budget constraints. It would not have been possible to erect this large-scale block of flats using standard elements out of the “normal” FRANK product range.
