Shear force dowel connection for fatigue loads.
Egcodorn® DND is the only proven shear force dowel system for expansion joints subject to fatigue loads. The revolutionary dowels are primarily used as mass-spring systems on railway tracks – to transfer high shear loads and absorb vibrations caused by moving trains.
The Egcodorn® DND provides Structural Engineer’s with the opportunity to specify coupled expansion joints exposed to fatigue action. Unlike conventional console designs, positive as well as negative shear forces can be transmitted, which is beneficial for joints.
The design of the joint is simplified by using Egcodorn® DND shear dowels plus the construction process is thus accelerated. Particularly in combination with Stremaform® shuttering elements, significant time and cost advantages can be achieved on-site.

Stuttgart 21 is a huge project in southern Germany to build the main inner city railway station with additional tunnel tracks. Located within the inner city, acoustical decoupling is required to absorb vibrations caused by trains.
The Structural Engineer’s, together with the Contractor, developed and detailed a precast solution to achieve a dynamic connection between the precast sections to accommodate the fatigue loads of the moving trains.
