Amazon Logistics Centre

Strategically well-positioned (near El Prat airport and the port in Barcelona), it is the largest and most modern logistics centre in Southern Europe with a multi-storey warehousing area totalling 210,000 sqm on premises covering an area of 150,000 sqm. Opening is planned for Autumn 2017.

The precast columns, reaching a height of 19 metres, transfer the loads directly to deeply driven single foundations. The 50 cm thick, expansion joint free floor slab comprises these precast columns and is connected to the circumferential single foundations by means of shear force dowels. Only one circumferential expansion joint is planned at the edge of this 370 m x 175 m sized monolithic floor slab. Heavy loads and joint widths of up to 60 mm required the biggest MAX FRANK Egcodorn^® WQ 350.

As the joint direction changes its course, an Egcodorn^® of type WQ was selected where lateral movement is possible. One single type of dowel was used for the entire building site to simplify and accelerate building progress.
