Zeppelin University

Friedrichshafen, Germany

For optimum room acoustics on the main campus, the Sorp 10® product has been chosen as the solution for use in thermally activated components.

The potential of free space was optimally exploited during the modernization and expansion of the Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen. Wide-ranging space options arise for University operations due to the courtyard development and the connection of the existing building with its transitions to the three old building sections. The room concept is clearly divided into old and new buildings. The 123 office workplaces are located in the small-scale structure of the old building. For large-scale usage such as the 700 m² cafeteria space, the library, 17 seminar rooms and the forum are planned for the new building.

The room acoustics of these areas was taken into consideration during project planning, and a solution was searched for that was especially focussed on use in thermally activated components.
The planners chose the combination of MAX FRANK Sorp 10® spacer and absorber products. The room-acoustics strip absorber was already installed in the bare ceiling to guarantee basic damping of the large-scale rooms with minimal influence on the thermal efficiency of the ceiling. After completion of the shell construction phase, an exposed concrete ceiling of approx. 2,200 m² was fitted with about 9,500 running meters of absorber strip.
