Non-load transfer in floor slabs

In order to protect overbuilt existing structures such as tunnels or channels from the load of a new building situated above, a load-free separation layer can be created between the existing structure and the new building using the Egcovoid® void former.

The Egcovoid® void former is quick to install and the cutting of a panel can be carried out easily with simple tools. The installation of valves enables the hose connection between the individual Egcovoid® void former panels and the panels are connected to the irrigation hose. Once the concrete has been poured and the concrete load-bearing capacity has been reached, the panels are irrigated in a controlled manner via the hose system. This guarantees correct functionality and thus relieves the load by providing a clear cavity generated between the top and bottom layers of the Egcovoid® units.

We would like to thank the client AUDI AG Neckarsulm (Germany) as well as the construction companyKLEBL GmbH Neumarkt (Germany) for the opportunity to carry out video recordings on site.

Typical application areas of the Egcovoid® void former are:

  • Transfer of load into piled foundations
  • Transfer of load from the sub-base through the floor slab into underground structures
  • Vertical separating layer to existing foundations
  • Vertical void between an existing building wall and a new building wall
  • Expansion space for swelling soils
