MERGE - Technology Centre

Chemnitz, Germany

A new laboratory building is being built at the TU Chemnitz. The base plate required a targeted introduction of the building loads as well as high tightness against radon.

Under the project management of the Chemnitz branch of the state enterprise Sächsisches Immobilien- und Baumanagement (SIB),  the construction of a new laboratory for the Bundesexzellenzclusters "MERGE - Technologiefusion für multifunktionale Leichtbaustrukturen" of the Chemnitz University of Technology begins.

The design of the laboratory building includes a structure with three full storeys and a stepped attic as a technical storey. The supporting structure of the building is a massive in-situ concrete construction with masonry partition walls. The building will be constructed without a basement and founded on a flat floor slab.

The base plate must be tight against radon and must not transfer any forces into the existing ground in some areas (so-called load release).
With the sub-structure waterproofing system Zemseal® and Egcovoid® void former, MAX FRANK can offer both of these requirements.
