MAX FRANK supplied Shearail® punching shear reinforcement & Egcobox® thermal breaks to new accommodation building.
Block R is a five-storey, concrete frame building incorporating flat slabs and insitu concrete columns on a piled substructure. The new building includes enhanced rooms with shared kitchens and communal spaces. All associated hard and soft landscapes are included within the outdoor communal areas, i.e. communal refuse collection points, secured bicycle storage, disabled car parking, new pedestrian and cycle linkage. The creation of a new surface water retention pond, access road and ancillary works are also included within the development.
MAX FRANK Shearail® was installed across the project as the product increases the shear resistance of a slab and safely transfers the shear load from the slab to the column. Shearail® is EC2 and BS 8110 compliant, enabling site work to be carried out effectively and efficiently. As the only punching shear solution approved by both BBA and CARES, Shearail® outperforms alternative products available on the market – at no extra cost.
MAX FRANK Egcobox® was used on the project as thermal insulation was needed to avoid thermal bridges. The Egcobox® structural connecting element creates a thermal break between an external component and an internal component. The Egcobox® thermal break balcony connector conforms to the recently amended Building Regulations 7(2) for combustible products for England.
