Single-family house with exposed concrete facade

Pullach, Germany

Decoupling an exposed concrete facade from the load-bearing wall using settlement plates

In the case of exposed concrete facades, weather-related temperature loads can result in high constraining stresses that cause unwanted cracks. It was therefore necessary in this project to separate the decorative wall from the load-bearing interior wall (single-skin element wall). By installing the Egcovoid® settlement panels, a joint is created and thus a secure, static cavity is created.

Special feature of this building project:
For the exposed concrete facade created in the first section in the color “anthracite” (colored concrete), half a thermal wall was introduced on the room side, without an inner shell.
The outer shell of the thermal wall was located on the side facing the settlement slab (see sketch in the series of images). Due to this special feature, the Egcovoid® settlement panel did not come into contact with fresh concrete, so the panels could be installed at a distance.
The advantage here was that the resulting recesses could be anchored through and the settlement panels did not have to be drilled through.

The installation on the three sides of the building went smoothly. These were then watered with the appropriate system components. A double layer of foil was used to ensure that the panels could be pulled out without any problems. The panels were easily removed using the clamps provided by MAX FRANK.
