ICE Maintenance Depot

Dortmund Hafen, Germany

One of Germany's most modern service infrastructures is being built on the site of a former freight yard.

Deutsche Bahn is investing more than 400 million euros in an ultra-modern maintenance depot for its climate-friendly long-distance train fleet. The centerpiece of the project is a 480-meter-long workshop hall. To meet extremely tight maintenance windows, work is carried out on four levels simultaneously.
The port area places high demands on the watertightness of the structure. The hall is being built using a combination of deep and shallow foundations. The hydrostatic groundwater pressure in the port area requires an absolutely reliable sealing system for the massive hall foundations and the interior maintenance pits (maintenance tracks), which are located significantly below ground level.
The proven systems from MAX FRANK were used to seal this challenging concrete structure (waterproof concrete structure / "White Tank"):

Fradiflex® Metal Waterstop System
Specially designed for the reliable sealing of construction joints and controlled crack joints against hydrostatic pressure.

Stremaform® Formwork Elements
The Fradiflex® metal waterstops were integrated directly into the Stremaform® elements as permanent formwork. This guarantees a watertight connection between the pouring sections and significantly accelerates construction progress.
