Egcodorn® shear force dowel connects concrete segments of a quay wall
In the Quarleshaven in Vlissingen Netherlands, an 800 m long quay wall is being newly built. Construction began in March 2022 and completion is planned for the end of 2024.
The vertical barrier wall consists of 92 bored piles with steel casing, which are connected to each other by sheet piles. The upper end of the quay wall with bollards consists of a 1.00 m thick and 2.50 m wide concrete beam with element lengths between 17 and 39 m.
The Egcodorn® shear force dowels connect the concrete slabs and allow for horizontal longitudinal movement, which can result from expansion, contraction or temperature change. High forces can be transmitted via the dowel bar in the direction of loading transverse to the slab.
