DC Tower 2

Wien, Austria

Next to Austria's tallest building, the Donau City Tower 1, the DC Tower 2 is currently under construction with a height of approx. 180 meters.

The Donau City Towers are three planned and partially completed skyscrapers in the capital city of Vienna. DC Tower 1 was opened in 2014 and has been the tallest building in Austria ever since (this project was also supplied with MAX FRANK products > more).
DC Tower 2 is currently under construction following an architectural redesign, with the third tower due for completion in 2022.

DC Tower 2 will offer a total of 53 floors with almost 52,000 m² of usable space, providing space for retail, gastronomy, offices and circa 470 rental apartments. The apartments will have loggias to create a sheltered opening from the interior to the exterior. MAX FRANK Austria supplied circa 5,800 Egcobox® thermally insulating cantilever connector units for the loggias in the construction project.

MAX FRANK in Austria supervised the DC Tower 2 project from planning to implementation. The Egcobox® product was adapted to the existing geometries and delivered to the Oberndorfer precast plant for assembly.

Fire protection requirements in Austria

The fire protection requirements in accordance with the Austrian OIB guideline require both the fire resistance class REI90 for building class 5 and the insulation body to be completely in A2 (non-combustible component). We can guarantee this protection with the Egcobox® cantilever connection.

Egcobox® is used for the thermal separation of cantilever slabs made of reinforced concrete and offers innovative solutions for safe balcony connections with a focus on fire resistance and prevention of the spread of fire.
