Expansion of treatment plant

Netphen, Germany

In Netphen, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany, investments are being made in the expansion of the municipal sewage treatment plant.

Construction work on the Netphen wastewater treatment plant is already underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024. The expansion of the wastewater treatment plant will be carried out in two stages, each of which will involve the construction of a separate additional road with an aeration tank and secondary clarifier.

Zemdrain® controlled permeability formwork (CPF) liner was applied to the wall formwork of the new wastewater treatment tanks to ensure longevity of the new tanks.

Product solution: Wall formwork with CPF liner Zemdrain®

Zemdrain® creates a virtually void-free surface and improves the concrete's ability to resist chemical attack by reducing the water-cement ratio and surface porosity. This makes the concrete harder, denser and more resistant. At the same time, potential cavities in which microorganisms and algae can accumulate and multiply are avoided. This increases the service life of the concrete surface enormously. The use of the Zemdrain® formwork liner in the new sewage treatment tanks of the town of Netphen therefore has a positive effect on their long-term service life.
