GRAND CENTRAL

Frankfurt, Germany

The GRAND CENTRAL Frankfurt is under construction on a 30,000 sq. m. site adjacent to Frankfurt main railway station. For the floor panels, MAX FRANK supplied Stremaform® formwork elements for working joints with coated metal water stop.

The GRAND CENTRAL Frankfurt is being developed in a joint venture by PHOENIX Real Estate Development GmbH and Groß & Partner, both of which are based in Frankfurt am Main. The construction work began in 2017 with the real estate project scheduled for completion in late 2020.

Top location in Frankfurt
The seven-storey GRAND CENTRAL Frankfurt property consists of approximately 50,000 square metres of office space and two basement levels with 780 underground parking spaces. The ground floor will feature a spacious entrance hall with a corporate restaurant and a conference suite. Externally, the building impresses with its innovative architecture and the extensive green roof areas and inner courtyards. The project is also seeking the “LEED Gold” sustainability certification for environmentally friendly, resource-efficient and sustainable construction.

Its central location between the European Quarter and Westhafen is unique. Quick connections to the railway network, optimum links to the city centre and impressive views of the Frankfurt skyline are guaranteed.

Ensuring concrete coverage for sophisticated requirements
MAX FRANK was able to convince the decision-makers with products from the area of formwork. MAX FRANK has provided the following products for GRAND CENTRAL Frankfurt:

  • Fibre concrete spacers
  • Stremaform® formwork elements for working joints with coated metal water stop.

The correct concrete coverage is essential to ensure the durability of reinforced concrete structures. Fibre concrete spacers ensure the concrete coverage before and during the concreting. Surface spacers made from fibre concrete convince with their quick and easy installation and result in huge savings in labour costs at the construction site. Their high load capacity and resistance to hot and cold conditions as well as their excellent bonding with the structural concrete ensure concrete coverage for sophisticated requirements.

Product combination – formwork element for working joints with coated metal water stop
With ready-to-use formwork systems, the Stremaform® formwork elements from MAX FRANK are the leading product for concrete joints. The formwork elements are used as permanent shuttering in floor panels, ceilings and walls. The Stremaform® products for working joints have been developed and designed by MAX FRANK in Germany for over 30 years.

For the GRAND CENTRAL project in Frankfurt, the Stremaform® formwork element for working joints with coated metal water stop has been used in the area of the floor panels. This product combination is especially suitable for sealing joints which are exposed to pressurised water in high quality buildings. With its special coating, the metal water stop bonds superbly with the fresh concrete and seals the construction joint in a secure way. This enables the quick installation of the formwork and sealing in a single work step. The Stremaform® system construction method also enables the completion of the height variations necessary due to recesses for elevator underpasses and for the floor inlets in the floor panels of the underground garage. The integrated Fradiflex® metal water stop from MAX FRANK has been issued with the European Technical Assessment (ETA-15/0914) from DIBt.
