The ‘Laakso Joint Hospital’ project is one of the largest hospital projects in Finland. Stremaform® has been installed to form the concrete sections in the civil engineering works and Fradiflex® Premium to seal the joints.
The Laakso Joint Hospital is a building complex comprising both newly constructed and existing buildings. The existing buildings are being renovated and remodelled. In addition to the realisation of the hospital, extensive civil engineering work and tunnel boring will also be carried out. This includes technical facilities for the hospital, a multi-storey car park with 550 parking spaces and a logistics tunnel that connects various areas of the hospital complex underground.
The Stremaform® formwork was supplied for the civil engineering work by the Helsinki-based dealer Sulin. The ready-to-install concrete jointing formwork is one of the most efficient solutions for shuttering construction joints in concrete elements. Stremaform® is the faster and more economical solution compared to wooden formwork.
In the tunnel area, Fradiflex® Premium metal water stop was also used to create a watertight barrier between the floor slab and the rising walls, protecting against pressing water, ground moisture and seepage water. MAX FRANK fibre concrete spacers and the Zemseal® sub-structure waterproofing system were also used.
