Resist shear loads beyond EC2 parameters with Shearail® punching shear reinforcement.
Engineers at MAX FRANK have developed a special manufacturing procedure to enhance the established Shearail® punching shear reinforcement range.
The innovative technique allows Engineers and Contractors, using the Shearail® system, to increase load capacity and resist shear loads up to 125% (based on the Eurocode 2 limit – as set kmax*= 2.0).
The UK National Annex amendment No.1 6.4.5 (3) restricts punching shear designs to kmax VRd,c= 2.0 VRd,c – the Virtual Design and Construction limit for reinforcement to Eurocode 2. MAX FRANK Shearail®, however, offers freedom of design up to kmax VRd,c= 2.5VRd,c, and enables Structural Engineers to achieve higher design shear stresses for the equivalent slab depth!
Using the enhanced Shearail® system, the slab thickness and dimensions of associated columns can be decreased – resulting in the following advantages when compared to market alternatives:
Full-scale testing, specific to MAX FRANK Shearail® - and obtained from CARES and BRE test results, were quantified by the committee member of Eurocode 2 with responsibility for punching shear reinforcement products.
The design limit of kmax* = 2.0 is not applicable for the well-anchored Shearail® punching shear reinforcement system as a higher value of kmax* = 2.5 can be achieved.
