Gunsite Flood Alleviation Project, Jersey

CONCRETE Magazine explains why Zemdrain® CPF liner was applied to provide best wave impact & resistance!

Successfully raising and reshaping a historic coastal mass concrete wall in St. Aubin's Bay, Jersey, posed initial challenges for the team involved.

Zemdrain® controlled permeability formwork (CPF) liner, from MAX FRANK, was applied to provide enhanced, long-term concrete durability to the concrete capping beam:

"In order to provide the new concrete capping beam with the best wave impact and abrasion resistance - required because the waves include shingle, floating debris and other abrasive materials - a Zemdrain fabric was applied to the steel shutter on the seaward face of the wall".

Zemdrain® improves the concrete’s ability to resist chemical attack by reducing the water-cement ratio and surface porosity, which limits the depth of chloride ion penetration into the cover zone and prevents induced corrosion.

The result?

An extremely durable concrete surface that is resistant to all forms of physical and chemical attack, as well as minimising biological growth and graffiti staining.

If you are working on a new scheme where concrete durability is key, contact our team for advice.
