CONSTRUCT Yearbook 2025/26

Now in its eighteenth year, the CONSTRUCT Yearbook once again features a project article from MAX FRANK; "Delivering student accommodation in Bristol's Temple Quarter"

The Silverthorne development will deliver a significant student accommodation as part of Bristol's Temple Quarter Enterprize Zone regeneration. Plot 6 of the development, led by Studio HIVE and constructed by HG Construction, demonstrates how intelligent planning, collaborative design and engineering innovation can overcome the complexities of constrained urban environments.

The article outlines navigation of site specific constraints, ways in which the architectural character was brought to life through smarter facade articulation with precast thermal breaks, and why offsite precast components offer a replicable model for success. The result was a win on multiple fronts for Egcobox®

  • Precision; with the slab edge predefined by the cast-in Egcobox® precast unit, facade elements could be aligned accurately and quickly.
  • Speed; brickwork could be built directly off the precast bands, significantly reducing construction time.
  • Performance; Egcobox® provides a continuous fire barrier built into the slab perimeter, improving both U-values and fire compartmentation without additional onsite detailing.
  • Design fidelity; the precast concrete allowed for architectural textures and reliefs to be expressed cleanly, preserving the visual integrity of the design.

This integration of design and engineering not only streamlined the construction process but also supported the project's environmental targets by reducing material waste and site-based rework.

Partner with us to ensure your next project not only meets but surpasses BSR compliance and performance standards.

From groundworks to the superstructure, we're here to support you. MAX FRANK construction solutions exceed the demands of the BSR when it all comes down to required certifications, including BBA Agrément, CARES approval and full fire-compliance.
