Architectural retaining walls

Lancashire, United Kingdom

Insitex® architectural formliners were chosen for use on an Environment Agency flood prevention scheme in the town of Whitworth in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire.

MAX FRANK worked with main contractor, Eric Wright Civil Engineering, and subcontractor, SGG Construction. New retaining walls were constructed to provide additional protection to a local industrial estate, situated near to the River Spodden.

The incorporation of an architectural liner ensured that the finished concrete surface blended in with the existing local blockwork walls. The use of the Insitex® ‘Wicklow’ design has provided a sympathetic finish which complements the local environment. With over 29 textures and designs to choose from, Insitex® formliners provide many options to help structures blend in with their environment.

Insitex® formliners offered the following advantages for this project:

  • wide design choice
  • cost-effective for this application
  • easy to use
