Foundations for tramway tracks on sandy ground
Strip Foundations for Tram Tracks – Economical and Sufficiently Load-Bearing
Compared to railway tracks, tram tracks are subject to lower loads. Therefore, strip foundations are generally sufficient as a foundation – even in sandy soil conditions.
If the fixing dowels are cast into the foundation during concreting, a rough levelling of the rail height is already possible before the concrete sets. This saves time and ensures an efficient construction process.
How to:

- Place Pecafil® permanent formwork units for strip foundations on level and compacted ground.
- Install spacers and reinforcement.
- Place rails on the reinforcement, paying attention to the exact same height and distances.
- Backfill Pecafil® foundation formwork to stabilise the formwork.
- Cast the foundations and complete the final covering.
